9 months old

Jess here again.

Alex's 9 month appointment was actually done at 8.5 months. He was 27.5 inches long and 16lbs 14oz which put him in the 10-15%. The pediatrician also suggested that we have his eyes checked at an Optometrist. So we did that last Tuesday, and he determined that Alex needs glasses. Most kids his age are a 2.5, at 5 they get glasses, and Alex is at a 6... Whatever that means. So, we ordered some glasses - they should be in next week.

Whenever I tell people about him needing glasses the first thing they ask is "How will you keep them on his head, is there a strap or something?". Apparently, they don't do straps anymore because they are a strangulation hazard. Instead his will have the big hooks around the ears. The second most often asked question is, "How do they know he needs glasses if he can't read or communicate in some other way?". Well, I'm not really sure, but the doctor dilated his eyes and then looked in them with a light through different lenses. Beyond that - I have no idea. It does make me feel better that the office doesn't sell glasses so they're not just trying to sell us something. :)

Now for the pictures...

Alex's "Official" Christmas photo

Alex loves to play piano with Steve

He loves to pull plugs out of outlets then try to stick his finger in them

Baking Christmas cookies

Playing with his new laptop

Lulu, Alex, Wesley, and Shelley

The day after christmas he had all these new toys, but he would rather play with a cord, piece of paper, and remote

He loves to climb on and around our computer desks

Alex feeding himself squash

Alex in his "round pen"

He will stand at this table and play (in his corral) forever

A picture is worth a thousand words...

A bit androgynous, but I love it :)

We love our playpen too, the bigger the better. It is a real help. Mark too LOVES that table that you play at. It cracks me up, when I hear the alphabet in Spanish as he somehow manages to switch from English to Spanish, accidentally of course! :-)
