I feel sort of in limbo between living in isolation and taking him to the play area at the mall and letting him lick the equipment. We've kind of been keeping Alex in isolation since January doing our best to avoid him getting sick, wiping shopping cart handles, sanitizing lots when we're in public, avoiding church/church nursery as much as possible, etc... However, I can't keep him "in isolation" forever. Now, do I hurry up and get him sick before our vacation and try to get tubes in quickly, or risk it and hope he doesn't catch a cold while we're gone. I'm not sure.
On to more happy topics. He's this close || to walking. These last few days he has been taking a step or two between objects with no hands. Yesterday and today he took 5-6 (wobbly) steps at a time throughout the day between pieces of furniture. I can't believe he is so close!
So I've been looking forward to this for awhile, but suddenly yesterday it hit me... What the crap am I going to do when this kid can walk?! The answer? Be much quicker than I am now. I think that's the answer. Let's hope he saves climbing for a few months (or years) down the road.
We had lots of fun this last week. He got in to my tupperware cabinet and demolished it. He figured out how to walk in circles using Steve's swivel office chair. He has been cracking up with laughter lately and screaming and getting really in to being silly. His favorite word is "boo", and he loves it when we go back and forth saying it. He will not say "Mama" on command, but LOVES to say "Dada" and talks about him all day :) The Ittsy Bittsy Spider is his favorite song. What else? hmm... He got a hair cut - those pictures will come at a later date. He refuses to use hand motions despite my best efforts.
Oh, and the kid can eat like a horse! Breakfast - 2 (read two) adult servings of oat bran or oatmeal cereal and half a banana (after an 8 oz bottle of milk!). Lunch - a whole avocado, half a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich, and a soy yogurt. Dinner - two scrambled eggs, half a piece of bread, 1/2 cup rice or quinoa, and 1/2 banana. It appears he has my appetite - let's hope he has my metabolism, too.
And, he's completely off of the bottle! Sippy cups from here out :)
Now for what you really came for - pictures. Let me know your opinion of the new scrapbook style photos. I will gladly switch back to the other format, and I'm really undecided as to which I like better.
My demolished cabinet, Alex with his big boy straw sippy cup, and Alex being "bad to the bone" in his Chopper style bandana.
He loves to play with these controllers we have laying around, or any other random loose wires he can find.
Snuggling the nearest object after I made him swoon by saying "boo", hiding behind the random box - if he can't see me, I can't see him - , walking around Steve's swivel chair, and finally just being super cute.

We Love the photos and the layouts are nice! Its a fun way to view a group of them and they are all good/fun/sweet shots! Are you hoping going off the bottle will help the infections? I know last I heard he was like wesley and still loved a bottle. He does have quite the appetite! Sounds yummy! Now after reviewing the food, chris is hungry :P
Exciting to see such a rapid change in a few days.

Wow, nice to see the updates, and to hear all about his new world:) He is such a cutie, and I do love the swing set for him and him being outside and enjoying himself.
You did a great job on the photos, keep it up:)
I like the way you did your photos. I can see more. Alex looks like he is becoming more of a real person. His smiles are so sweet.

I wish I could say I did it to help with the ear infections, but honestly I was just tired of the bottle! He really did great, though. Didn't really seem to care. Vacation in 4 weeks was a big motivation. I did not want to pack two different kinds of beverage holders. ;P two or three carriers is a totally different story though :D

Well, if everyone likes this format then I will try to keep it up.
Love all the pictures and format! You get more photos in and that is always cool. Loved hearing about what is on Alex's menu. Such a sweetie! Mark LOVES his oats in the morning too with a banana. Glad Alex is better, sick kids is so aweful, How come nobody warned us about that part!
