He's a hero!

I'm on night-duty tonight, so as I'm writing this (just after midnight), i'm waiting for Alex to wake up ready to eat. He will usually go about 4 hours on his first stretch, and about 3 or 4 on his 2nd stretch - all told, it's a decent amount of sleep, it is just at a weird time (for example, he goes to bed at 9, 4 hours later he's eating at 1am, 3 hours later he's up and ready to go before 5 am....)

Jess got some really cute clothes and Grams and Alex had another photoshoot. It is clear that our little guy is not only a hero, but a happy, smiling, hero.

And while tired babies are often fussy babies, they sure can be cute babies too.

(See if you can get through these photos without yawning yourself...baby yawns are contagious too!)

And finally, one of the newest things our 'hero' does is "fly" - I'm not sure what happens exactly, but it sure does make for some funny pictures (and i think we all have to admire the strength of his abs - you try doing this!)

Hey Steven and Jessica!
I love checking in on you and watching Alex grow. As I said to Shelley, the family members in your photos are all people I am glad to know. I never wrote last week to wish you a Happy First Mother's Day, Jessica! Being a mom is an incredible privilege--It was not in my original plan to even have children, but God's plan was different, and I have always been grateful. May you grow in grace as you lean on Jesus for all the help and wisdom you will need.
