Psalm 40:17
Many, O LORD my God,
are the wonders you have done.
The things you planned for us
no one can recount to you;
were I to speak and tell of them,
they would be too many to declare.
Last Thursday (4/9) Grandma and I were on our way home from Amber's and it was raining. Grandma was driving - as always. A few times the water sort of grabbed our tires, but only for a split second. So Grandma slowed down and got in the right lane once we got in I-55.
We were headed north bound on I-55 a mile north of Pevely when we hydroplaned and Grandma lost control of the vehicle. First we went this way / then we went that way \ and crossed over the fast lane and slammed into the wire in the median (that wire saved our lives, we would have gone head first in to south bound traffic if that wasn't there). Then we flipped back around and we were moving south bound into north bound traffic. We finally came to a stop on the shoulder of the road facing south bound.
Alex was on the passenger side in the back seat. The rear window was broken out and the left mirror pushed through and broke the driver's side window. The side and front air bags did NOT deploy. We haven't figured out why, but we are probably better off because of it.
The entire time Grandma was praying "Oh Jesus protect us!", and He did. We were going 65 mph and none of us had a scratch or bruising from the seat belts. Alex, Grandma, and I are completely fine. No other vehicles hit us despite us going head on into traffic.
We are very fortunate to be alive, but it is very comforting to know had that been one of our times to go - we would be with the Lord instead of on the highway in the freezing cold rain.

One of the firemen put a blanket over the window to stop so much rain from coming in on us

Alex was on the passenger side - there was actually another towel on top of these that caught a lot of glass

Where we hit the wire and posts - also notice the mirror is missing
This is a verse that my Dad used to quote to me all the time when I lived at home. It became "my verse", and still is today.
Philippians 4:4-7
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
