The morning after

It looks like little Alex learned a thing or two from the nurses about keeping us up.

It was a long night - something we don't hope to mimic in the nights going forward. He didn't cry all night or anything - but he would have if we weren't holding him or in some way loving on him. I think his days and nights are a bit mixed up - that's something I hope to remedy sooner rather than later. He just wasn't tired last night - in fact, quite the opposite. He was totally awake and wanted to hang out with big people. he was also hungry pretty often. But we made it through the night - we survived.

His first doctor's visit went really well - he sure can be a cutey; totally alert and snuggly at the doctor's office, and didn't even start to make a peep until we were packing up to go; i guess he likes Dr. Mueller. Dr. Mueller said he looks great and he's back up to 7lbs (started at 7lbs 5oz and was as low as 6lbs 14oz).

Once we got home, we had our first of several sets of visitors. Alex got to meet (and be held by) his cousins Emma and Alyssa; grams (Chris), GG (Shirley), AA (Aunt Amber) were here too. Chris took some really cute photos of Alex (does he take any other kind? :)) The girls also helped make some Cupcakes for Alex's "First birthday party".

The afternoon ended with "MaMa Elsie" (my grandma), my mom (what is Alex going to call her? I'm sure we've discussed this before, but i can't recall..., Aunt Shelley, cousin Isabelle, Uncle Andy, and Aunt Kristy all coming up to meet 'n'greet Alex. Big thanks to Andy and Kristy for bringing up Warehouse Barbeque for us - a Farmington treat that we haven't had in forever and it works SO well in our circumstance; just a couple pounds (!!!) of pulled pork, some baked beans, and some buns - the Earharts are set for a famine.

Jess and Alex are currently getting some sleep (he's asleep in his crib - yay!) and I'm catching up on the blog - I've been meaning to post all day, but as you can see, it's been busy. Not sure what our evening has in store. . .
